Welcome to our Field of Dreams
After driving for miles through the farmlands of Southern Minnesota,
you will come to a humble farm site, a tiny spot on the prairie that has
magical undertones. In the true spirit of Kevin Costner's movie, Field
of Dreams, you're about to experience another man's dreams, those of
Stan McCone.
When you first arrive, it seems rather ordinary; you drive into a farm
place with a circle drive; you park your car; and you ring the doorbell of
the white farm house in order to pay your admission. On certain days,
Stan, himself, may answer the doorbell, or perhaps his wife Virginia, or
one of his children.

If no one is available to greet you, you will drop your
admission in the SELF-PAY mailbox, and you will head for the entrance to
begin your self-guided tour.

As you walk the pathway, you will see a sod house
looming before you; the prairie grasses and wildflowers will greet
you. [Wildflowers in season, of course.] When you step inside the
soddy and then inside the dugout, you will get that 1880s
feeling.
You are walking in a man's “field of dreams”. As the
prairie winds blow across your face, with a little imagination, you
can hear voices, bits and pieces of former conversations in the
“field of dreams”.
“What is that dirt thing you are building in the
field behind your house? That’s a really dumb thing to do.”
... a friend ~ 1987
“Mom, kids are making fun of us at school; they
think Dad is really weird because he’s building sod
houses.”
McCone children ~ 1988
“You want to turn our hay field into a prairie and
open it to the public? Who would come?”
wife- Virginia McCone ~ 1988
“If you build it...they will
come.” from the movie,
